A reclaimed wood side table is a small table, usually 22 to 28 inches high, that sits beside a sofa, a chair or a bed to hold a lamp and a drink. Height should match the arm of the chair it serves. Ours run 16 to 30 inches wide in reclaimed pine, elm, oak and stone-top variations. Twenty-seven in stock, $200 to $1,500.

What we stock

Square parquet-top pine, round elm on turned bases, petrified-wood tops on stainless bases, half-round elm and zinc pieces, and cricket-style accent tables in rustic pine. Heights span 22 to 28 inches, widths 16 to 30.

The buying decision

Match the table's height to the arm height of the chair or sofa beside it, or go an inch lower. Higher than the arm and it looks like it wandered in from another room. Ours run 22 to 28 inches high and 16 to 30 inches wide, so the narrow end suits an armchair in a tight corner and the wide end works beside a bed.
